Laura Vitorino Rebelo is a Portuguese contemporary artist creating abstract ceramic landscapes, paintings, and site-specific installations inspired by memory, water, and the Alentejo landscape.

Ceramics:
If the earth wasn't round
These handmade abstract ceramic landscapes are part of my ongoing series If the Earth Wasn’t Round. Crafted from earthenware and finished with natural oxide glazes, each unique ceramic artwork explores the relationship between water, memory, and landscape.
Inspired by the ever-changing colours of the Alentejo dams, where I live and work. By the nostalgia of my birthplace, Madeira Island, these contemporary ceramic pieces reflect a continuous dialogue between land and water. Through an intuitive making process, each abstract ceramic landscape becomes a personal interpretation of place, inviting viewers to connect with the emotional and sensory experience of the natural world.

About me
I am a Portuguese contemporary artist and PhD researcher based in Alentejo, Portugal. Working across ceramics, abstract landscape painting and site-specific installations, my multidisciplinary practice explores landscape as a space of memory, identity and lived experience.
With a background in Art History and Visual Arts, I have exhibited my work internationally since 2014. My work has been featured in Portuguese Emerging Art (2019 and 2023), and I am currently represented by the Design Shop of the CAM Gulbenkian. Through handmade ceramic landscapes, paintings, and installations, I investigate the evolving relationship between people, place, and the natural world.

Abstract Landscape Painting
Inspired by my agricultural work in Alentejo and the nostalgia of my birthplace, Madeira Island, I create abstract landscape paintings and ceramic artworks that explore the changing rhythms of nature. Drawing on the shifting colours, textures and seasons of the landscape, my work transforms personal memories into contemporary abstract compositions that invite viewers to imagine their own horizons and emotional connections to place.
Collaborations
My site-specific murals transform architectural spaces through colour, abstraction and a strong connection to place. Working with cultural institutions, design events, hospitality projects and private clients, I create bespoke mural paintings that respond to the identity of each environment.
Inspired by landscape, memory and the natural world, every mural is developed in dialogue with its surroundings, resulting in contemporary artworks that enrich public, commercial and residential spaces across Portugal and beyond.
