Um Rio — Uma Paisagem, 2020

This series of paintings belongs to the ongoing project I developed throughout 2020, during the lockdown months.

It represents the change of the seasons in the sowings that surround where I live. I've chosen an encounter between two that complement each other: an oat and a corn sowing planted with a sustainable agricultural method, where the drought of a river in the hot summer months, provides the opportunity, without spending water or energy, to carry out sowing, which will feed the animals during the winter months.

During the Summer months, the floodgate of this river is closed and, the landscape changes. These lands are sow with corn and sorghum. In the space of a month, we can find the colors of spring again. At the end of the summer, the cycle repeats itself: the corn and the grass stubble return to yellow, and later the river flows again; the blues and greens of winter and spring return.
